Richmond Ducks Unlimited is a Virginia grass roots organization made up of volunteers in an effort to raise money for Ducks Unlimited, Inc. With over 550 members and 100 sponsors, the Richmond Chapter is a top fund raising chapter in Virginia. Over the past 4 years, the Richmond Chapter has set new standards of excellence in Virginia by raising over $380,000 for Ducks Unlimited. RDU has been nationally recognized over that span as one of the top grass roots fund raising chapters in the country. It has been the top chapter in the state and in each of the last three years has reached the $100K a year net/net milestone. For 2009, our goal is simple: we will continue to represent Richmond’s leadership and commitment to the environment through waterfowl and wetlands conservation. There has never been a more important time to step forward and make a difference to conserve wetland habitat than right now. The U.S. alone has lost more than half of its original wetlands and continues to lose over 109,000 acres of wetlands each year. Much of the money raised by Richmond DU supporters comes back to Virginia in the form of wetlands projects. To date; 67,766 acres of wetland projects have been completed and protected in the Commonwealth of Virginia by Ducks Unlimited at a cost of over $6.8 million dollars.
